in the sea caves

there's a thirst there's a love

there's an ecstasy

all hard like shells

you can hold them in your palm.

in the sea caves

for whole days I gazed into your eyes

and I didn't know you and you didn't know me

TONY CHERBAS A traveler for the past 10 years, Tony Cherbas first started his obsession with photography on the island of Guam in 2008. With a turquoise bay out of his backdoor to explore on a daily basis, Tony became hooked on capturing the beauty below the ocean's surface.  He pushed the limits of his compact digital camera until deciding to upgrade to a DSLR in 2010. Since that time, Tony has received over 40 international awards for his photography, including being named the 2016 World Champion at underwaterphotography.com.   The underwater images he strives to create focus on a primeval connection between the vast mysteries contained in the oceans of our planet, with that of the surreal dreamscapes of the human subconscious. His passion for photography and the marine world continues to evolve as he experiments with lighting techniques to bring creative energy and new vision to the art of ocean imagery.  It is his hope to reach his audience on a visceral level, to help bring awareness to the vast beauty that exists under the waves. Through this awareness, an understanding that conservation efforts to protect these fragile ecosystems need to be upheld in order for this beauty to continue, is paramount.
